The kufiyyeh is a cotton headdress originally worn by Arabs in different countries to protect them from the sand and direct sun exposure. Although it still has that functionality, the garment has become a symbol of Palestinian solidarity and resistance to the Israeli occupation and an international symbol against any kind of oppression. Its popularity among young people and celebrities around the world has transformed it into a fashion garment.
We are a group of people who are passionate about the teaching and learning of Arabic. We believe that through culture we can inspire our learners to become intercultural citizens of the world and help them learn the Arabic language in a more authentic and interesting way. We strongly encourage you to incorporate cultural materials into your classroom and see the difference.
